1/21/2009 HERB’S JOURNEY DAY 3

Hi to everyone. A great day for Herb. Michael and Rozanna came for the afternoon. Since only 2 can be in the room I went home to take care of some business. Herb really enjoyed spending time with them. The 3 of them are quite entertaining. He has been reprimanded by the nurse police for letting me sit on his bed, socializing with another patient, and having 3 people in the room. He is so adorable . Everyone can’t help but love him. He has been getting special favors from the staff. It is his killer smile . He is sleeping right now but dinner will be here soon. The food is wonderful. The time flies by for him right now. Tomorrow is transplant day. They say it is anti-climatic. He loves all the blogs. Much love to everyone.

Herb~ Well, it doesn’t surprise me to hear that you are being quite the socialite. What would a day be without Herb befriending someone new? You are such a gift to this world, and a perfect example of courage, positive spirit and determination.
Mary~ We really appreciate the blog. (Thank you, Lexi!) Glad you were able go home and get some things done while Herb spent time with Michael and Rozanna. You can never replace the love and support a family provides during times like this. How blessed you are to have each other.

Saw our MaryJo today and she says you are doing great (which doesn’t surprise me), however, she also said she has been getting in trouble for getting just a little tooooo close to you. Behave!!!!
I hope you enjoy the pic’s. I know “Indy” enjoyed his birthday presents and has continued to enjoy them. He can’t wait to see you again, nor can we.

Michael and I enjoyed our time with Dad on Wednesday. He was in such wonderful spirits. His attitude is so positive now that he is in the “Presidential” suite. 🙂
Michael and I went for a walk with Dad for about 10 minutes….we couldn’t keep up. His strength is still very much there, both on the inside and outside. He is the epitome of the “perfect patient”. The nurses and staff seem absolutely smitten with him. But that doesn’t surprise me as Dad has always been one of my heroes.

Mom, tell dad that Lex and I will be by this weekend if he is feeling well enough to have us visit. And, of course, one of my other heroes has always been you. So don’t think I was leaving you out.

| Posted 15 years, 4 months agoHi guys!!! Thought I’d drop by and say hello. Listen, you think your room is small? I just got out of the shower, took a step to my right and stirred the pot of chili I’ve got goin on the stove!! I DON’T EVEN WANT TO HEAR IT! And where do I get these nurses that insist you get your own space? I’ll pay 20 bucks if they come over and just draw a line and tell Bobby he can’t cross it!! All i need is my own 8 feet square… Ha! Alright, just kidding (not about the proximity of the stove top to my shower) but I’m sure you’re just hating all the attention from the nurses. Well, take good care up there, I gotta call Daddy and remind him to do so as well, I think he goes in tomorrow. Maybe we better check over at the sams club, see if they have a pair of rockin chairs for you two. We can put em on someones front porch, get you each a pair of sticks and a dog named blue. You can poke at him and supervise people comin and goin all day long. I ‘m gonna go check the website…

| Posted 15 years, 3 months agoHello Herb….. YEAH, I HEARD YOU DID REALLLLYYYY WELL TODAY FOR THE TRANSPLANT. That’s awesome. Make sure you read GENE SIMMONS COMMENT (HARMONY). I couldn’t stop laughing. She’s not lying though about getting out of the shower and being next to the stove. ha That’s called “Premium” New York space. Wished I owned some of that space. Anyway, you and Lonnie would have a great time poking ol’ Blue while sitting in a rocking chair. Keep your spirits high and know that you are always in our thoughts. I talk to MJ every day. Lonnie goes in tomorrow for his back surgery. Ugh, but at the same time, yeah! He is anxious to get this over with. Wish us luck.
